Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes how Sampson County Busted Mugshots handles information connected with visits, searches, and messages. It explains what may be collected, why it may be used, when it may be shared, and what choices a visitor can request. By using the pages or sending a message, you acknowledge these practices. Official record systems remain with their own custodians, including the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office led on the Citizen Connect portal by Sheriff Jimmy Thornton, North Carolina courts, and the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.

Information You Choose to Send

Search Terms

When a visitor enters a name, place, or other term into a search feature, the query is passed to the third-party provider that operates that feature. Sampson County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s handling of a query is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy notice, not this one.

Messages and Contact Forms

An email or contact submission may include a name, return address, message, and any details the sender elects to provide. Those messages are kept as needed to read and answer them. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, a valid legal order, or a related safety need.

Technical Data From Each Visit

Basic technical information can be recorded when a browser loads a page. This information helps keep the service working, measure use, and find faults. It is not the same as an official Sampson County booking, court, or corrections record.

  • Internet Protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on each page
  • Referring site, when a referral is supplied
  • Date and time stamps for requests

Cookies and Similar Files

Cookies may help understand how visitors use the pages and may support basic site functions. Browser settings can block or delete cookies. Some features may work differently when those files are refused. Advertising partners can also place or read tracking tools on their own systems, as described in their notices.

How Collected Data Is Used

The information described above supports ordinary operation and maintenance. It is used only for the purposes connected to running the pages, handling messages, and directing visitors toward the records custodian that may hold the information sought.

  • Keep the pages available, functional, and reasonably fast
  • Send a search request to the appropriate partner service
  • Learn which pages and links are useful to visitors
  • Diagnose errors, abuse, and other technical problems
  • Display advertising that may be relevant to general interests

For Sampson County records, links may point to the sheriff’s Citizen Connect booking search, the North Carolina eCourts Portal, or the NCDAC Offender Public Information Search. Each service decides how it handles its own records and visitor data.

Links to Other Record Systems

Pages may link to the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, its Citizen Connect booking and report tools, court portals, correctional locators, and other public-record resources. The Sampson County public-records page explains local routing, while North Carolina Chapter 132, including G.S. 132-1.4, provides the public-records law context. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that organization’s privacy policy controls the visit.

Advertising partners may measure activity across sites to serve interest-based ads. Any such tracking occurs on systems controlled by those partners. It is not a promise that the linked sheriff, court, or correctional agency accepts or stores the same information.

Parties That May Receive Data

Personal data is not sold by Sampson County Busted Mugshots. It may still reach service providers that are needed to operate a feature or comply with a lawful demand. The possible recipients are:

  • Search partners that process an entered query
  • Analytics services that report page use and errors
  • Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
  • Law enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order

A message sent about a Sampson County arrest, booking, or court entry is not forwarded to the sheriff, clerk, or NCDAC merely because it mentions that record. Questions about custody or an official copy must go to the originating office.

Security Is a Best Effort

Reasonable standard safeguards are used for information under direct control. No internet-connected service is completely secure, however. Sampson County Busted Mugshots cannot promise that data will be breach-proof or that an unauthorized person will never defeat a safeguard.

Visitors Under 18

The pages are intended for adults. Sampson County Busted Mugshots does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor submitted information, a parent or guardian may use the Get in Touch page to ask that it be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.

Requests About Your Data

A visitor may contact Sampson County Busted Mugshots about information held directly by the service. Requests should identify the relevant interaction without sending sensitive account credentials or another person’s private information. Depending on the request and any legal limits, available choices include:

  • Ask for a copy of data held about the requester
  • Ask that an incorrect item be corrected
  • Ask that data be erased
  • Ask to stop or limit certain processing

These requests do not change a sheriff, court, NCDAC, or other agency record. For an official Sampson County record, use the county public-records instructions or contact the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 112 Fontana Street, Clinton, NC 28328, (910) 592-4141, or sheriff@sampsoncountync.gov.

Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised when the service, vendors, or data practices change. A revised version will be posted on this page and will identify a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised practices apply to later visits.
